Auditory sequencing is the ability to hear which word was spoken first in a sentence, or to hear which letter is at the beginning, end, or middle of a word. When a sentence is broken down into individual words and a word into individual sounds, this is auditory sequencing at work. It is very important that the child can distinguish between similar-sounding sounds. These games specifically train the recognition and memorization of sound sequences.

Function

Auditory Sequencing — Remembering and reproducing sound sequences

Significance

Auditory sequencing is the ability to hear which sound comes first and which comes next. When reading, words are broken down into sounds — the correct order must be heard and retained.

Training effect

Trains recognizing and retaining sound sequences, as required when blending sounds into words while reading.

Function

Auditory Sequencing — Reproducing rhythmic beat patterns

Significance

The child listens to a pattern of high and low beats and must reproduce it in the correct order. Processing rhythmic sequences trains the ability to perceive and maintain temporal order in auditory input — the same skill needed to segment words into syllables and sounds when reading.

Training effect

Strengthens the ability to process and reproduce auditory patterns in sequence, supporting syllable segmentation and reading rhythm.
